HisLight is entering a new season!

We’re very excited to welcome the new lead elder couple, Derik and Caylin Hattingh, who officially took over leadership from Tim and Cheryl Watson on 31 October 2021.

After serving at HisLight for almost 20 years, Tim and Cheryl felt the call of God to focus on their apostolic ministry, which prompted the decision to hand the church over to a younger couple.

In the early nineties, a group of people meeting together in local homes encountered the reality of Jesus and the fullness of the Holy Spirit in a new way. It was from this small group that our church was birthed in 1995, with Pieter and Linda Swart as its pastors. Initially, called Barberton Christelike Gemeente or Barberton Christian Fellowship/Church, Sunday gatherings were held in various rented venues around the town. However, in 1998 we were able to purchase our own land, and the foundations of our present building were laid. Although in some respects it is still a work in progress, we enjoy gathering in our own premises under the leadership of Derik and Caylin and a team of dedicated elders.

We are convinced of the truth of the whole Bible and know that God loves each and every person no matter their age, race, gender, background or social standing. Understanding this has given us the ability to value one another and to enjoy a sense of oneness and unity. It also motivates us to share His love and His heart with people everywhere, hopeful that they too will come to know Him in a real way as our Father.

Together, by pooling our individual talents and skills, we are committed to making a real difference in the lives of people in our own local community, as well as further afield. We often do this through partnering with other churches, ministries and organizations.

You are always welcome at HISLIGHT no matter where you are in your faith journey: you will be accepted as part of the HISLIGHT family.

HISLIGHT is by no means a perfect church, but we try to be authentic and real in living out the values that are important to us

At HISLIGHT we embrace the core beliefs of Christianity. We believe Jesus is the Light of the world and came to give us life. We want to lead people in a way that will empower them to experience more of the life Jesus came to give. We won’t compromise on the Biblical Truth we believe. However, we also won’t share it in a condemning way.
